Recently, a device has been developed abroad that is convenient for carrying and can automatically introduce insulin into the human body.
According to foreign media reports, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the "artificial pancreas" on the 28th, which is called the Gospel of Type 1 diabetes. This is the world's first similar device to help patients continuously monitor blood sugar, and Insulin is automatically introduced as needed. It is reported that type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed as a child, they have multiple injections a day, or use a drug pump introduced into the tube to provide life-saving insulin.
Insulin is a hormone that converts food into energy, but the pancreas of diabetic patients cannot be made by itself. If it is not controlled, blood sugar may rise to a dangerous value, and the risk of health problems such as heart disease is also high. The MiniMed 670G device from Medtronic, Ireland, includes a drug pump, a blood glucose sensor, and an insulin-introducing tube.
The sensor measures blood glucose once every 5 minutes to determine whether to inject or block insulin, but the patient still has to manually increase insulin before meals. The drug pump is about the size of a mobile phone and can be worn at the waist.
The director of the FDA Device Center said the device "allows people with type 1 diabetes to live more comfortably."
