A market price monitoring data from the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII) shows that as of June 2012, the price of 15W fluorescent lamp power supply has dropped from 16 yuan in the same period last year to 8-9 yuan, a drop of 50%. . The sharp decline in product prices has made many LED power supply manufacturers in a difficult situation.

Especially in the price confusion in the small and medium power supply market, the performance is more prominent. Due to the low barriers to entry, everyone sneaked in, including many lighting companies. This has also caused the current market situation of small and medium power LED driver power supply to be chaotic, and the product is mixed.

Shenzhen Guke Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Gugu”) has been involved in small and medium power LED driving power sources since 2006. The industry has been in good shape in the past few years, allowing the company to quickly complete the accumulation of original capital. In 2011, the revenue of Guke exceeded 100 million yuan for the first time, and it has become one of the few billion-level LED driver power companies in China. However, in recent years, the domestic LED power supply market is fiercely competitive, and Gu Ke has a little more concern about his subsequent development.

According to the latest statistics of GLII, there are about 300 LED power companies in the country. In the past few years, power companies with high-power products have also transferred to the small and medium-sized power market. At the same time, the traditional consumer power supply gross margin has been Less than 5% forced a group of traditional power supply manufacturers to join the LED market, quickly accelerating the competition in this market segment.

"Power companies have market space but there are also cost bottlenecks." Gu Ke related person in charge told the "High-tech LED" reporter that the cost of LED power supply in the future will be an important factor in testing whether companies can seize market share.

As the core component of the drive power supply, the drive IC accounts for 15% of the overall power supply cost. The person in charge told the reporter that the company reached a strategic cooperation agreement with the domestic IC manufacturer Jingfeng Mingyuan this year. Recently, it has just placed a 30KK power IC order, which is not a small number.

In order to reduce costs and increase gross profit margin, strategic cooperation with IC manufacturers is only the first step for GE to expand its market share in LED power.

The above-mentioned person in charge predicts that the domestic LED lighting market may enter a fast-growing channel in the first quarter of next year, and the demand for driving power will appear in advance. “In order to meet the market demand of downstream manufacturers, the company will be strategically prepared to increase its current quarterly production capacity to around 100 KK in 2013.”

Adjust capacity distribution

Increasing market competition is forcing companies to quickly increase sales to grab market share. The person in charge of the company said that in addition to improving competitiveness in terms of after-sales service, product quality and delivery speed, the small and medium-sized power supply market will increase sales in the market segment to ensure that it survives in the fierce market competition.

For the future domestic LED power market prospects, the above-mentioned person in charge is still optimistic. He calculated the account of the "High-tech LED" reporter: in 2011, the global electric light source is about 60 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 5%. It is estimated that the global electric light source output will be about 66.2 billion in 2013, with a 5% LED lighting penetration rate. Computing, then the market will need about 3.3 billion LED drive power modules. By 2015, market demand will grow to around 14 billion.

According to this data, by 2013, Guke will account for 1% of the global LED driver power market share.

At the same time, the market demand structure will also undergo major changes in the next few years. From the current high-power outdoor lighting market, demand will gradually shift to the small and medium-power indoor lighting market, which will become the largest demand market for driving power.

"We expect the market to enter a fast-rising channel in the first quarter of next year. The LED lighting market will enter the peak season from December this year to June next year." The person in charge said that according to the plan, the monthly sales volume of the company's LED power supply will also increase to around 15KK-30KK. .

As the luminous efficiency of LED chips continues to increase, the future of small wattage LED lighting sources will basically meet the needs of home and commercial lighting. The person in charge said that in order to meet this market demand, Guke will increase the resources of 1-50W small and medium power supply modules. "In terms of product strategy, we will mainly provide 3W-5W downlights, spotlights, bulbs and other lighting products, and provide corresponding LED power supply, and form a mass production scale."
