OWICELLS project uses BMW to test BMW robot tooling

According to foreign media reports, Research institute Fraunhofer HHI is the first to develop visible light communication (LiFi), which announced at the final project of BMW's Munich plant that it has successfully completed the OWICELLS project. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF-funded).

The project uses fast fiber-optic wireless technology to replace wired fieldbus or common radio solutions with the goal of developing more flexible manufacturing cells for use in automotive engineering.

The company also demonstrated visible light communication technology using a mobile robot that performs routine manufacturing processes such as conventional parts welding, moving and testing, all in a 5x5 square meter manufacturing unit. The technical basis for this powerful fiber-optic wireless transmission is spatial diversity. In other words, it uses multiple LED lights and multiple photodiodes to synchronize the transmission and reception of data (actually a multiple-input multiple-output architecture).

When the system is in place, the data transfer rate will exceed 100 Mbit/s and the transmission delay will be 5 ms. Visible light communication is based on low-cost LEDs and uses unlicensed visible and infrared light. Optical data transmission depends on the line of sight. However, if a radio transmitter is used, no data congestion will occur. In addition, this technology does not cause electromagnetic interference in high current industrial environments.

The automotive industry is trying to create more flexible robotic tooling to meet the needs of individual users. Mobile robots should be able to implement networked control and use artificial intelligence technology, and the delay of cloud data transmission is low.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research with a total value of approximately 1.6 million euros ($1.854 million). The project partners include: BMW, evopro, and Fraunhofer Institute for Communication Technology (collaborators). OSRAM and the Munich University of Applied Sciences are the partner partners and subcontractors of the project.

Male Pin Headers & Min Jumper Series

Mini Jumper:The short-circuit cap is a 1.27mm,2.00mm, 2.54mm 5.08mm circuit sheet metal. As long as it is 2 pins, the short-circuit cap can be used to short it.
What is the function of the short circuit cap? Short circuit cap, I call it short circuit block. For example, if you use a single row of pins, you can use the short circuit block to short circuit the two adjacent pins (that is, to realize the connection on the circuit). For example, if you have a three wire pin, you can use a short circuit block to realize the function of dial switch.
