Xilinx and IBM teamed up to leverage PCI Express Gen4, surpassing the widely adopted PCI Express Gen3 standard and doubling the performance of the interconnect between the accelerator and the CPU. At the same time, Gen4 doubles the bandwidth between the CPU and the accelerator, up to 16 Gbps per channel, enabling performance acceleration for demanding data center applications such as artificial intelligence and data analytics.
