On February 27, local time, the 2017 Global Game Developers Conference (GDC) was grandly opened at the Moscom Center in San Francisco, USA. GDC started VRDC (Virtual Reality Developers Conference) last year. This VRDC is still the main highlight of GDC. There are tens of thousands of developers and companies participating in the world.

The IDEALENS virtual world of China's VR hardware technology company was jointly exhibited with brother IDEALOEYE Guan Jiechuang and IDEALSEE. It is reported that all three companies belong to IDEALSEE GROUP.

At GDC 2016, only one company, IDEALENS, exhibited and only one product, the IDEALENS K1 VR, was unveiled. In just one year, the IDEALSEE GROUP three companies collectively unveiled and launched numerous VR/AR hardware products.

IDEALENS: All-in-One, PC Head, Position Tracking

In May 2016, IDEALENS launched the world's first battery storage compartment IDEALENS K2 in Seattle, USA. Subsequently, K2 completed its debut in Asia in Tokyo, Japan in June. It announced the price of 3,499 yuan in August and merged into stores such as Tmall, Jingdong, Gome, Suning, and Digital China to formally enter the Chinese market.

In addition to the all-in-one product, IDEALENS also disclosed its M8K, a PC-class VR head display product, several times over the past year. It boasts a large 180°FOV viewing angle and 8K high-definition image quality, and is internally known as a “performance monster”. According to media reports that have been experienced, the results are very good and worth looking forward to.

IDEALENS's self-developed position tracking system made its debut at CES last year. Facebook and Oculus executives have experience. From the official disclosure situation, IDEALENS position tracking system has an ultra-small size sensor, response time is less than 20ms, tracking accuracy is within 0.5mm, supports more than one person, and has applied for patent protection.

IDEALOEYE: Professional and Consumer VR Cameras

IDEALOEYE Kuanjie Chuangyu is a VR camera company owned by IDEALSEE GROUP. Its well-known product is a professional-grade VR panoramic camera IDEALOEYE P21 with a 21-bit HD camera.

P21 can realize intelligent real-time stitching in the machine, can achieve 4Kx2K@30fps live broadcast and 8Kx4K@30fps recording and broadcast, and the delay is controlled within 5 seconds. These technical advantages make P21 become the "star product" of VR shooting/live broadcasting field. :P21 is one of the devices used in the 2017 Spring Festival Gala VR shooting; it also conducted VR live broadcasts on activities such as the 2017 Hubei Two Conferences, the 2016 Wuhan Tennis Open, the Jingdong Double 11 Stars Live Show, and Tan Weiwei’s “Give You a Little Color” Chengdu Environmental Concert. Multiple records were created and caused many media reports.

IDEALOEYE and IDEALENS have also joined hands with each other to create an industry-wide panoramic live-view solution from the input to the output. This enables VR live streaming to form a complete VR closed-loop view of multiple terminals in real time.

However, there was no P21 on the GDC, and the small portable VR camera IDEALOEYE C4 equipped with a quad-view HD camera came on stage.

In 2016, known as the "VR first year," VR head-display equipment has developed rapidly, but VR content is still scarce. It can be seen that the production and production of VR content will become the highlight of the VR industry in 2017, which also brings VR cameras an opportunity to break out. The outbreak is inseparable from the vast user groups. It is understood that the C4 is positioned as a consumer-level VR camera. With C4 debuting the global event GDC, this move can not help but conjecture that IDEALOEYE may begin to make efforts to the C-side market this year.

IDEALSEE: SLAM AR Technology Exposure

IDEALSEE is the most mysterious and has been cultivating for many years in fiber optic scanning retinal imaging light field technology (that is, PK Magic Leap's core technology!), augmented reality, deep learning, waveguide optics and other fields, this time for the first time in the GDC for the global exposure of its industry State-of-the-art SLAM AR technology.

From the demo video, it can be seen that IDEALSEE's SLAM solution realizes autonomous positioning by using a monocular camera to perceive its surroundings to build incremental maps. The solar system in the video is a 3D model, which is placed in a fixed position in a 3D scene. The background is an image of a real scene taken by a monocular camera. The user can observe the details of the solar system model from all angles with the camera moving in the real scene. When the camera is shaken violently, the 3D model can still be accurately and steadily superimposed on the real scene.

The reporter experienced it at the scene. The system has good real-time performance and almost no delay. According to IDEALSEE staff, this program is equipped with a high frame rate camera and a MEMS inertial sensor. Through multi-sensor fusion technology, both data are simultaneously used for self-motion tracking calculations.

Perhaps the exposure of SLAM technology is just the tip of the iceberg of IDEALSEE, and it is looking forward to hearing more about IDEALSEE.

Nowadays, more and more Chinese VR/AR hardware companies are going out of the country and going to the world: they are making frequent appearances at international exhibitions such as GDC and CES. At the CES last year, there were as many as 1300+ Chinese companies, accounting for 1 /3. We are looking forward to Chinese VR/AR companies achieving certain achievements in the international arena and letting China's scientific and technological forces continue to grow.
