Guangdong Releases First LED Industry Standard Plan

“The LED lighting industry is currently faced with multiple challenges, among which the contradiction between the rapid development of industry key technologies and the formulation of standards, the implementation and testing of standards is particularly prominent, and there are certain difficulties in regulating the market competition order and effectively regulating products.” Yesterday, Guangdong The Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau and the Provincial Science and Technology Department jointly issued the “Guangdong Province LED Lighting Industry Standard System Planning and Road Map”. According to the standard system plan, Guangdong will formulate more than 130 local standards related to the LED lighting industry within five years. It is reported that this is the first LED industry standard system plan and road map for the entire country and even Asia. Experts pointed out that the plan and the roadmap will become effective means to solve the current bottleneck that restricts the rapid development of Guangdong's LED industry, and it has important guiding role and significance for the orderly and effective implementation of the strategic planning of strategic emerging industries in Guangdong.

It is understood that LED lighting industry is one of the strategic emerging industries that have been listed as a key breakthrough in Guangdong Province and is currently in a stage of rapid development with great potential. According to industry data, the LED industry scale of Guangdong Province has reached 150 billion yuan last year, and the output value and scale continue to rank first in the country. Guangdong Province has promoted industrial applications through demonstration projects. The province has installed more than 260,000 LED street lamps and the demonstration section has exceeded 2,500 kilometers, both the scale and progress are among the highest in the country.

Yesterday, the relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau pointed out that due to the lack of a standardized macro and rational system for standard revisions, the standards issued were lacking effective pre-research and reasonable verification, and the emerging industry characteristics of the LED lighting industry did not achieve targeted results. The introduction of standards cannot completely improve the status quo of industry disorder.

It was learned yesterday that the LED lighting standard system planning and roadmap announced this time included the LED lighting industry standard system, Guangdong LED lighting industry standard system plan, Guangdong LED lighting industry standardization roadmap and other parts. Among them, a total of 130 pre-project standards were revised, including LED product classification and coding standards, and LED fluorescent tube product standards.

In addition, in view of the emerging industry characteristics of LED lighting, the planning and roadmap also plans the revision and implementation of standards, and proposes key technical standards research, revision, and implementation guidelines for the next few years.
