On January 5th, Intel CEO Ke Zaiqi shared the progress of Intel's virtual reality and his experience in the past at the CES conference. Ke Zaiqi believes that in any new technology conversion, the typical situation is that the hardware is first listed, and then other parts of the ecosystem are needed to push new technologies into the mainstream. Virtual reality is no exception. To date, the reason for limiting the large-scale popularity of virtual reality is that there is insufficient content available.
At the same time, Ke Zaiqi also revealed that Intel is currently developing the so-called "integrated reality", which is to seamlessly integrate the real world and the virtual world, but far more than virtual reality games such as "Pokemon GO". They are the new frontier of human experience, not just a technical adjustment, but a technological leap.
The following is a record of Ke Zaiqi:
Today I have a wonderful experience. I led 250 people to jump off the helicopter and made a winged flight in Moab, Utah. I walked with them to a huge waterfall in rural Vietnam. I took them to a low-altitude drone to pass a solar power plant in Nevada. I sat with them on the field to watch an NCCA (American University Sports Association) basketball game between Butler University and Villanova University. We also experienced the rest of the zombie disaster.
These experiences took place in a conference room at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2017) in Las Vegas, with emerging virtual reality (VR) and fused reality technology making it possible. I think these technologies have brought extraordinary possibilities to the world.
For half a century, we have divided the world into a digital world and a physical world. The boundaries between the two worlds are rapidly disappearing and are merging in exciting new ways.
Video is no longer just something that is displayed on a plane, or something that is viewed in front of you or in the house. This technology is evolving at a rapid pace, with new developments almost every day, so I hope to go back and see where we are and where we are going.
Through the virtual reality helmet, I saw a new world full of opportunities for travel, work and entertainment. I believe that virtual reality is much more than just playing games. I believe that bringing users to the site in a virtual way will greatly enrich the way people appreciate sports and entertainment. By combining advanced drones, cameras and computer technology, I believe that virtual reality has the potential to save lives in search and rescue or natural disaster relief, and has the potential to allow millions of employees to perform dangerous inspections outside of safe distances, thereby making millions The person working on the meter is safer.
In any new technology transition, the typical situation is that hardware is the first to go public, and then other parts of the ecosystem are needed to push new technologies into the mainstream. Virtual reality is no exception. To date, the reason for limiting the large-scale popularity of virtual reality is that there is insufficient content available.
We are currently seeing an increase in virtual reality content that will generate incredible amounts of data. For example, Intel's 360-degree playback technology uses 38 high-definition 5k cameras to capture motion on the basketball court or sports field. This produces massive amounts of data, about 2TB per minute.
Thanks to Intel's relentless pursuit of Moore's Law, coupled with our computer vision technology, Intel RealSense Sensing Technology and Stereo Video Technology, I believe that Intel will be at the heart of the potential to unlock these data.
What is the significance? The potential to unlock these data will transform all walks of life and improve almost every aspect of our lives, whether it be education, entertainment or travel.
A clear definition of "reality" is also changing. We are currently developing the so-called "integrated reality", which is to seamlessly integrate the real world and the virtual world. I am talking about far more than virtual reality games like Pokemon GO. What I want to say is the Intel Project Alloy head display, which allows users to manipulate virtual objects with their own hands instead of the gamepad. Or, let the Alloy helmet users walk around in real-life, non-CGI videos. Or, the global engineering team of a car company is moving around the engine they are developing, as if they were in the same room.
Yes, there may be some speculation in the market, just like many new technologies. But I really believe that virtual reality and converged reality will exceed our expectations. They are the new frontiers of human experience, and I think this will be more than just a technical adjustment, but a technological leap.
I can't wait to see where these technologies will take us and invite you to walk with us.
Pigtail threader
Filling:
Use PVC hard pipe as a protective sleeve, stuff 48 pigtails into the pipe one after another, let them protect the pigtails, and then pass through a 5m diameter 3.5cm corrugated pipe; the number of operators is 3; the pipe cost is 50 yuan; the test time is 71 minutes.
Advantages: good protection.
Disadvantages: poor flexibility, low space utilization, poor applicability, and not portable.
Filling:
Use a plastic hose as a protective sleeve, stuff 48 pigtails into the tube one after another, let them protect the pigtails, and then pass through a 5m diameter 3.5cm corrugated tube; the number of operators is 2; the cost of the pipe is 45 yuan; the test time is 57 minutes.
Advantages: good protection, good flexibility.
Disadvantages: low space utilization, poor applicability, and not portable.
Wrapped:
The low-density polyethylene material is used as a protective cover, the 48 pigtails are reasonably placed and arranged, and finally rolled up and passed through a 5m diameter 3.5cm corrugated tube; the number of operators is 1; the material cost is 2 yuan; the test time is 49 minutes.
Advantages: light and practical, good flexibility, and high space utilization.
Disadvantages: difficult to arrange.
