Panasonic entered a robotic vacuum market and released a wedge-shaped sweeping robot that removes corner trash. The MC-RS1 Rul sweeping robot has a rounded, almost triangular shape with a dust sensor that cleans up better than a competitor's sweeping robot.
The MC-RS1 Rul sweeping robot can be moved from one side to the other in a very narrow place. Its two rotating brushes can sweep the dust in the corner to the underside of the robot, thus cleaning all types of floors, including Tatami is usually used in Japan.
“The triangular shape of this Rulo sweeping robot was developed over the years in the study of vacuum cleaners,†said a Panasonic spokesperson. “This is the first sweeping robot in the industry with a fully-fledged V-brush. â€
The dust sensor is designed to detect small particles that are almost invisible to the human eye.
The Rulo sweeping robot weighs 3KG (6.6 lbs) and is approximately 30 cm wide (11.8 inches). It is equipped with ultrasonic and infrared sensors to help it navigate and bypass obstacles, based on walls. Its direction of movement is random and can cover the entire floor. It can operate for one hour in automatic mode.
RULO sweeping robots face an arduous battle for the market share of sweeping robots. iRobot's Roomba sweeping robots have sold millions in the world. But Panasonic is a very large home appliance company with distribution channels in Japan and the world. Its goal is to produce 5,000 RULO sweeping robots per month.
The RULO sweeping robot was launched in Japan in March this year, and it is now available on the Japanese e-retail website for a sales price of 107,780 yen, or about $913. This price far exceeds the price of the Roomba sweeping robot online sales.
