During the demonstration, the Mummy scene was also shot for VR. Producers put a camera into a weightless plane, and the aircraft sinks and accelerates, creating a sense of temporary weightlessness.
The experiencer said that although he had not entered the weightless environment before and did not know how to feel it, Voyager did bring the sense of weightlessness to the experiencer. Because he wears a VR helmet on his head, he does not feel that the chair is moving, nor does he know that it uses a haptic engine. In January, Voyager had appeared at Sundance Film Festival. In the immersive cinema we saw some special chairs, such as a 4D movie chair, which can move back and forth and can be felt when there is an explosion scene in the movie. Voyager promised to let users feel immersive.
However, Voyager has a key difference from the 4D chair. Voyager is specially designed for VR movies and will not dizzy and vomit.
A total of 20 Voyager chairs were installed at the show. Most VR content encourages viewers to watch in all directions, but Voyager deliberately guides the user to the front, just like ordinary movies.
Of course, you can also look backwards, but sitting back in a chair is not very comfortable. Another disadvantage of viewing backwards is that Subpac tactile speakers are too loud and can make your ears uncomfortable because the speakers are mounted on the backrest cushions.
