The committee made this decision based on the grievances of the two American manufacturers LSI and its subsidiary Agere. The two companies, in violation of their July 1993 technical patents, demanded that the committee ban imports from tungsten-containing wafers from 18 manufacturers.
In addition to the above-mentioned six Chinese Taiwanese manufacturers, Asian chip manufacturers surveyed include Elpida of Japan and Grace Semiconductor of China.
It is understood that both China Unicom and China's Hongli have been investigated for the OEM of Cypress Semiconductor. The decision of the US International Trade Commission to conduct an investigation is only the first step in determining whether it violates patents. The case will then be transferred to the judiciary of the committee, where the unit will hold a hearing and preliminarily determine whether there is a violation of Section 337 of the law, and the decision of the unit must be reviewed by the committee.
