The financial crisis has hit, the incandescent lamp elimination project has started, and the LED promotion boom has revived... Recently, the global lighting field has been a big event. is it good or bad? how to respond? Recently, the author interviewed Chen Yansheng, chairman of the China Lighting Association, and brought high-end voices to the industry.
Author: In 2009, it was a year of speculation for many industries, and I believe that the lighting industry is no exception. As an industry association, you have a large amount of data and information. Based on the analysis of this information, what is your opinion on this year's industry development?
Chen Yansheng: The industry will still be more difficult in the first half of this year. According to the data of last year, due to the financial crisis, the growth rate of China's lighting electrical products exports has slowed down noticeably. At the same time, the export volume of almost all kinds of lighting products has changed in the past, and some types of products have experienced negative growth. This shows that the current situation of the entire industry is not very optimistic. However, I speculate that the industry will see a steady recovery in the second half of the year. Although the current foreign market has not recovered, the demand for lighting electrical products is rigid. Therefore, after the market gradually recovers, the double-digit growth rate of product exports should be expected. Therefore, it is also hoped that domestic enterprises will be prepared to wait for the opportunity to stabilize after the economy stabilizes.
Author: What should the company do at this stage? How to broaden the market?
Chen Yansheng: For export companies, I think that the current situation can be adjusted from two aspects. The first is to adjust the product structure. Especially for large companies with capital and strength, we can consider the development of products in a diversified direction. The second is to expand the export market. For example, when the financial crisis first appeared in the United States, many lighting companies have already felt affected. This reminds companies to expand their markets and establish business relationships with different countries and regions. In this case, the overall sales situation of the company will not be affected by one or two customers, which enhances the company's ability to resist risks.
Author: Just now you mentioned that after the market recovery, the growth rate of lighting appliances exports to double-digit growth is still expected. So, will the export growth point at that stage change?
Chen Yansheng: Growth points will change, and energy-efficient products will grow faster. At present, many countries have started the elimination of incandescent lamps. For example, Australia has banned imports this year and banned the sale of incandescent lamps next year. At present, one third of the international incandescent lamps are produced by China. In the future, the export value of these products will become smaller and smaller. Enterprises should prepare early and transform in time. There are basically two types of incandescent lamp manufacturers in China. One is to produce incandescent lamps and energy-efficient lighting products at the same time, and the other is to produce only incandescent lamps. For the latter, the time left for them is not much, and companies should plan ahead.
Author: Compared with export enterprises, is the impact of the financial crisis on domestic sales companies small? What kind of work do they have to do at this stage?
Chen Yansheng: Domestic sales companies are also divided into large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises. Overall, the growth rate of sales last year was worse than expected, especially for small enterprises. The impact of the real estate market on the home business should be said to be even greater. I suggest that companies can pay more attention to the field of engineering lighting. Last year, the construction of many large-scale sports stadiums brought many opportunities to the Chinese lighting industry. At present, the country has invested huge amounts of money in infrastructure construction. Roads, subways, stations, etc. where there are projects, there is no need for lighting. What companies should do now is Actively pay attention to these infrastructure construction projects and seize the opportunities contained in them.
Author: When it comes to engineering lighting, we also noticed a problem. In some high-end venue lighting, there is still a certain gap between domestic brands and foreign famous brands. What are the reasons?
Chen Yansheng: In fact, in recent years, the gap between domestic brands and foreign brands has become smaller and smaller. Of course, it is undeniable that there are still gaps compared with well-known brands such as Philips, GE and Osram. I think the main reason for this is that these well-known international companies have a history of hundreds of years, and the company is very mature. In addition to those high-end fine lighting, many of these brand lighting products are produced domestically. I believe that the improvement of the overall level of domestic brands can not be rushed to make a quick profit, and it must be gradual. For example, in recent years, many people in the industry have mentioned that the original ability of domestic lamps is poor. Now many companies have begun to focus on R&D and originality, and have also invested in corresponding funds. This is the side of progress.
If you talk about the gap with well-known brands, I think that compared with hard power, the gap between soft power is actually more worthy of attention. At present, there is a lack of training mechanism for light source talents in China. Only Fudan University has established this major in China, and most of the talents cultivated serve foreign companies. Everyone knows little about this profession and lacks recognition, which leads to a lack of talent. If this problem can be solved, I think it can promote the longer-term development of the industry.
Author: Just now you talked about the trend of the industry this year from the market perspective, then what new changes will be made in technology? Is the development prospect of LED more clear?
Chen Yansheng: In recent years, LED has been hyped up very "hot", this hype can be said to be top-down. In 2003, the state established the Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Coordination Leading Group and launched the semiconductor lighting project. Since then, local governments have listed this as a point of economic growth for the so-called "political achievements", blindly launching projects, but in fact very unprofessional. Objectively speaking, the application of LED in indication, display and decoration has been improved day by day, but it is still far from mature in the field of lighting.
I suggest that companies should do some research and development seriously. It is ok to do some demonstration pilot projects, but it is very irresponsible to blindly promote the products. The problem of high LED cost is currently no effective solution in the world. In China, many companies use inferior products in order to reduce costs, which leads to many LED projects in China. Therefore, I do not advocate such a wide-ranging and unplanned blind promotion of LEDs. Both local governments and enterprises should do a good job in research and development.
For example, at present, the progress of ceramic metal halide lamp technology is very fast. In the past, Chinese enterprises used the core technology of foreign countries. Nowadays, some enterprises in China can master the core technology. The promotion of LEDs must follow the objective development law, which can truly transform the technological achievements into the driving force of industrial development.
Welding cable is a type of electrical cable that is specifically designed for use in welding applications. It is made up of fine copper strands that are coated with a durable, heat-resistant insulation material. The insulation material is resistant to cuts, tears, abrasions, and other types of damage that can be caused by welding sparks and other hazards.
Welding cable is available in various sizes, ranging from 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG, and is typically sold in lengths of 25 feet or more. The cable is rated for high amperage and voltage, making it suitable for use in welding machines and other heavy-duty electrical equipment.
One of the key benefits of welding cable is its flexibility. The fine copper strands that make up the cable are highly flexible, which makes it easy to maneuver and position in tight spaces. This flexibility also helps to reduce the risk of fatigue and breakage, which can occur with less flexible cables.
Overall, welding cable is an essential component of any welding setup. It provides a reliable and durable electrical connection between the welding machine and the workpiece, helping to ensure safe and efficient welding operations.
