Many previously expected Microsoft to release Surface Pro 5 in October 2016 because this time coincided with the company’s previous Surface product line update cycle. However, in the end, Microsoft released only the futuristic Surface Studio and the slightly improved Surface Book with Performance Base (the 2016 Surface Book).
According to the latest news, Microsoft will release Surface Pro 5 when it releases the Windows 10 Creators Update in early 2017. The company will work as a foundry partner for this tablet. Rumors about the joint venture with Hewlett-Packard are not groundless, because this company is currently working on Microsoft's Surface Studio.
Considering that the Windows 10 Creators Update may be released in April, there have been rumors that the release of Surface Pro 5 will be selected at the MWC conference from February 27 to March 2. However, it seems that Microsoft does not have any plans for this. .
Surface Pro 4 is equipped with Intel's sixth-generation Core processor, a screen ratio of 3:2, a screen size of 12.3 inches, a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels, and a PPI of 267. It is expected that Surface Pro 5 will be equipped with Intel's seventh-generation Core Kaby Lake processor with a 4K screen. Surface Pro 4 is equipped with USB 3.0 interface, DisplayPort interface and SD card slot. In contrast, Surface Pro 5 will be equipped with more interfaces including USB-Type C, and will make the body size thinner.
Since Microsoft recently announced that Windows 10 will support the ARM architecture, Surface Pro 5 is expected to release ARM processor versions. In addition, Microsoft acquired a patent on the stylus wireless charging technology at the end of last year, so the new Surface Surface Pen stylus is expected to add this feature.
Finally, previous battery life of the Surface Pro 4 was criticized by users, so a larger capacity battery may also appear on the Surface Pro 5. Larger batteries and lower power Kaby Lake processors will significantly extend the life of the device.
