According to Taiwan media reports, based on the latest data released by memory research company CIS State Technology, the futures price of 1Gb DDR3 memory chips in the second half of December has already fallen to 0.91 USD, falling below the one-dollar mark; the price of 2GB DDR3 memory is currently maintained at USD 17-19, a decrease of 10.5%.
Jibang Technology pointed out that due to oversupply, the price of 1Gb DDR3 chips will remain below US$1 in the next 3-6 months. The price is likely to reach the trough by the end of April next year, and then it will start to recover before the arrival of the peak season in the second half of the year.
By the second half of next year, the price of 1Gb DDR3 chips is expected to return to $1.20 to $1.30. If market demand is lower than expected, a few suppliers will consider reducing production capacity and love to maintain price stability.
Compared with DDR3, where prices have fallen sharply, the price of 1Gb DDR2 has only declined slightly in the second half of December.
In the spot market, the monitoring data of Jibang Technology shows that the price of 1Gb DDR2 has risen to 1.40 US dollars. Jibang Technology believes that the retail channel's low-cost chipsets that only support DDR2 memory drive the increase in demand for the former.
