AMD Suzhou Encapsulation Plant Expansion: Double Production Capacity

On November 9th, Chaowei Semiconductor AMD announced the expansion of its factory in the Suzhou Industrial Park. This expansion will build the AMD Suzhou factory into an integrated factory that combines assembly, testing, marking, and packaging functions. With the ability to package and test CPUs, GPUs, and APUs, the first phase of the project was completed in late 2011. After the expansion of the project and full operation, the production capacity of the Suzhou plant will be doubled.

AMD Suzhou's packaging and testing plant was put into operation in December 2004 and is mainly engaged in the testing of integrated circuits such as CPUs. The test products have gone from single-core CPUs to dual-core or even quad-core CPUs, from desktop CPUs to notebook CPUs and from 130nm to 45nm process technology.
