Ivy Bridge overclocks its superiors

We learned from the preliminary report that the Intel 22nm Ivy Bridge will provide better overclocking performance than its predecessors.

The new 22nm processor has a lower TDP per clock and can do more calculations, which means that overclockers can push it to higher operating frequencies.

Ivy Bridge will be published from March to April 2012. Under normal circumstances, it can operate at the same frequency as the current generation of Sandy Bridge products, but with lower power consumption.

Even at 77W, Ivy Bridge can reach 3.4GHz with four core eight threads. However, the source said that the official did not determine which Ivy Bridge uses 77W power consumption parameters, but it may be Core i73000 series k model power consumption is 77W, priced at about 350 US dollars.

Of course consumers demanding top performance should buy Sandy Bridge E, the Core i73900 series, of which the highest-end model is the Core i73960X at 3.3GHz/3.9GHz.

Ivy Bridge also looks good for laptops. Although laptops don't have much overclocking fun, Ivy Bridge has superior performance per watt, enabling manufacturers to increase battery life and come up with ultra-slim designs.
