Cree launches red, green, blue and white quad-chip multi-chip MC-E Color LED

Recently, Cree, the market leader in LED lighting, has announced the industry's first multi-chip MC-E Color LED in red, green, blue and white packages, further expanding its portfolio of high-power color LED products. In addition, Cree has simultaneously introduced the industry-leading XLamp XP-E full color package based on the latest innovative chip technology to achieve the highest performance discrete high power color LED product line on the market.

XLamp MC-E color LED technology is a unique package design that integrates white, red, green, and blue LED chips in a single component. As the industry's first product, this compact package delivers high design flexibility to meet the needs of full color color LED applications such as entertainment venue lighting and architectural lighting that require small illumination sources while achieving high luminous flux output. .

With the industry's highest performance, the XLamp XP-E color LED offers up to 22% more luminous flux than the existing XLamp XR-E and XR-C color series, and a 40% smaller package size than the XR series. The XP-E color series offers different luminous fluxes at currents of 350mA, such as:

Product blue: 500 mW

?Blue: 39.8 lumens

? Green: 107 lumens

? Amber: 56.8 Lumens

?Red: 56.8 lumens

Compared to existing XLamp XR-E and XR-C color LEDs, the new XLamp XP-E color LEDs reduce the spatial distance between LED dies by 75%. The new XLamp MC-E color LEDs are bare LEDs. The distance can be reduced by 94%. This significant reduction in spatial distance not only enables better color mixing, but also reduces the shadowing effects of decorative lighting, architectural and entertainment lighting applications. Cree is sampling now for MC-E and XP-E color LEDs and will be in volume production in the third quarter of 2009.

Paul Thieken, Director of LED Components Marketing at Cree, stated: "We have leveraged LED chips and innovative packages for lighting-grade white LEDs to dramatically improve the performance of high-power color LED applications. In addition, technological innovation and package flexibility are perfect The combination also helps Cree's color LED designers achieve greater brightness, flexibility and handling.” Meanwhile, Cree also announced two other product breakthroughs: the industry's smallest warm white/neutral LED color that meets ANSI standards Binding, and the industry's brightest and most efficient lighting-grade cool white XLamp XP-G LED.

Cree not only extends its entire warm white/neutral white gamut to the industry's smallest products, but also standardizes two cool white color bins. Cree's XLamp XP-E and XP-C LEDs use the industry's narrowest warm white light binning. In addition, for XLamp XP LED series with CCT color temperature between ANSI and 5700K ~ 6500K, Cree also standardizes two cool white color bins for outdoor lighting. The new product's gearing structure is extremely compact, reducing it by 75% compared to its predecessor and reducing it by 94% compared to the size specified in the ANSI C78.377A standard.

The newly introduced lighting-grade cool white XLamp XP-G LED is the most efficient product in the industry with a luminous flux of 139 lm and a luminous efficiency of 132 lm/W at a drive current of 350 mA. When the drive current is 1 A, the luminous flux is up to 345lm, its brightness and efficiency are 37% and 53% higher than the brightest XR-E LED, respectively. The XP-G LED is available in the XLamp XP Series package and has the highest light intensity in all lighting class LEDs.
