DIGITIMES report shows that in 2012, the domestic projected capacitive touch panel shipments grew by 8.6% to 14.2% quarterly.

DIGITIMES researcher pointed out to reporters that currently there are several major touch panel technologies on the market. One is the resistive touch type commonly used in the past, and the other is the projected capacitive touch type. It is based on the implementation of GG and G2, which are mainly glass substrates, and GFF and G1F, which are mainly based on thin film substrates.

“But now electronic products are focused on thinning, and now the mainstream technologies are OGS (single glass type solution) and In-Cell (inline). OGS and the aforementioned four kinds of implementation methods belong to the plug-in method, while In-Cell In the embedded method, Apple's iPhone 5 product uses In-Cell.” The above-mentioned researcher said that since the glass capacitive touch panel encountered the problem of bonding process yield, many flat panel manufacturers still use thin-film projected capacitors.
