Connected devices, M2M (machine-to-machine communication) are hot topics for operators today, and games, cars, vending machines, and water and electricity bills will be connected to the network in the near future. Although these have been around for many years, we can see that the inflection point will appear in 2020—50 billion connections will come. Some people even predict that machines, equipment and sensors will bypass human connections in the near future.
There is no doubt that this will be an extraordinary change that will change the entire world forever. We believe that by 2020, a networked world in which 50 billion devices will "talk" and "listen" to each other will be formed. As everything is connected, our world will change, and the way we innovate, collaborate, produce, manage, and live will also fundamentally change.
M2M becomes a reality
If we deeply understand how to connect between machines, we will find that cellular M2M is only a part of connected devices. Other access technologies will also be used, such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee and PLC. The currently widely deployed cellular network simplifies deployment and greatly reduces the implementation cost of M2M communication solutions, which is also the main reason why people choose cellular access technology.
M2M and connected devices are a growing market, and the compound annual growth rate is expected to reach 15% -30% (see Figure 1). By 2016, the number of cellular connected devices will reach 350 million to 400 million units. Therefore, many operators in the world regard it as one of the future development priorities, and have taken important steps to seize market share.
In 2012, many operators, enterprises and other ICT industry participants have announced the implementation of M2M technology. For example, Nespresso is working with Orange to connect coffee machines, and BMW and Vodafone are working together to share the M2M platform. Several operators have also reached M2M roaming agreements to expand global coverage, such as Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Teliasonera reached a global M2M alliance. In addition, some new business models have begun to appear in the M2M field, such as car insurance on a pay-per-use basis.
It can be said that M2M is gradually becoming a reality, already playing a role in the realization of the network society. However, we must understand that the value cannot be measured by the number of connected devices, but depends on the value that connectivity brings to enterprises and end users. From a customer's perspective, M2M and connected device technology can be applied to all industries, but customers in these industries rarely talk about M2M. Their interest is to supplement the product or convert the product into a service to obtain more value. Improve business process efficiency or meet regulatory requirements.
In addition, M2M involves all aspects, including business processes from market strategy, operations, network, equipment, connection management and service support, to practical applications and use of industry solutions. M2M is another fiercely competitive market. Operators are facing not only competition from traditional peers, but also competition from many other players. Global market participants are using their respective influences to seize market share, while regional market participants are strengthening cooperation. For all participants in the market, building a strong partnership is particularly important. In order for M2M to achieve long-term success, operators need to collaborate with partners who can help them meet M2M challenges. The core here is to create, or to be part of an ecosystem that successfully solves various M2M problems.
M2M creates new opportunities
M2M and connected devices will bring a whole new world, in this world, everyone, everything and every place will be connected in real time, we call it the network society. When everyone is connected, their lives change. In such a new world, ICT will become the fundamental driving force for change and progress. A real-time connected world will put forward many new requirements, and at the same time will open up opportunities beyond our imagination. The main participants of the network society need to understand various requirements, and have the ability to rethink and innovate and make the best use of various resources to enter this new ecosystem of value creation.
We are now in the first period of change leading to a networked society. We have already proposed some smart concepts, such as flexible electric vehicle charging and connected ships. Driven by the reality of the new market, companies and governments are beginning to implement changes.
It is worth noting that the core of the online society is not connection, but what we do using connections: empower everyone, develop new business models and efficiency, and build a society that can help us meet the biggest challenges on this planet through connection .
Ericsson is working with multiple partners to develop smart infrastructure supported by information and communication technologies for operators, utilities, transportation and government departments. The goal is to improve energy efficiency by optimizing services or activities, seek opportunities, and explore transformative solutions to fundamentally change the way we live and work. We believe that we can contribute to a low-carbon society and address climate change.
High Voltage STA Armored Cable
High Voltage STA Armored Cable is a type of Power Cable that is designed to carry high voltage electricity in a safe and efficient manner. It is commonly used in industrial and commercial applications where high voltage power is required for heavy machinery and equipment.
The cable is constructed with a solid or stranded copper conductor, which is insulated with a high-quality material such as XLPE or EPR. The insulation provides excellent electrical properties, such as high dielectric strength and low capacitance, which ensures that the cable can handle high voltage without any breakdown.
The cable is then wrapped with a layer of galvanized steel tape armor, which provides mechanical protection against external damage, such as impact and abrasion. The armor also helps to prevent the cable from being damaged by rodents and other animals.
Finally, the cable is covered with a sheath made of PVC or PE material, which provides additional protection against moisture, chemicals, and other environmental factors. The sheath also makes the cable more resistant to fire, which is important in industrial and commercial settings.
Overall, High Voltage STA Armored Cable is a reliable and durable solution for carrying high voltage power over long distances. It is available in a range of sizes and specifications to meet the specific needs of different applications.
